Look into the future

Four generations of the Morel family have followed the destiny of the company created by Jules Morel in 1880. In more than a century of history, Morel has learned how to evolve and manage technological as well as creative changes. In 1983,Morel's repurchase of Cottet marked an evolution of the production tool and commercial development across the world. In 1993,with the creation of its Morel US Inc branch, the company experiences a new international progress.

1997, Morel opted for creating its own brands: creation of the first brand, Öga, a refined line with Scandinavian designs. 2000, Commercial merger of Morel and Cottet. 2007 Morel and Cottet merge under Morel name. 2010, The company celebrates its 130th anniversary. Jérome, Francis and Amélie, the 4th generation, manage the company.

Independence

A key word: Independence: the company has enjoyed complete independence since its creation in 1880. This financial independence has allowed the implementation of a long-term strategy: the creation of in-house brands, thus avoiding the constraints associated with licenses, The organization of an international distribution network balanced between major geographical areas and clients, in order to maintain impartial and independent decision-making.

Design

An integrated Design Center: In order to ensure genuine product contentand real differentiation from the competition, 15 people working within the company - designers, prototype specialists, graphic designers, product managers - design and develop eyewear collections and communication tools. 100% of the design process is therefore carried out on the Morbier site.

Manufacturing

Thanks to CATIA CAD software used by the aviation industry, all product development is managed from our Morbier site, which selects the best technologies to serve the design of each concept and calls on expert partners to produce each type of component. Production is shared between our Morbier site, local subcontractors and partners from around the world.

Logistics

Customer service above all else: The objective of creating central stock available to all distributors at our Morbier site is to ensure the best possible service for all our clients by pooling resources for all collections. In order to guarantee faster response times, thanks to an extranet system with secure and permanent personal access, our distributors can order products or check their availability in real time.

Sales

An international tradition: An export pioneer since 1880, the company, which is present in 80 countries, currently achieves more than 70% of its turnover outside the French market. This tradition of focusing on international markets, recognized in 1958 by the French "Export Oscar", was again rewarded in 2009 with the « Trophy for Best-performing International Company », given by the Franche-Comté International Chamber of Commerce.
